Overview of the Sarawak Cultural Village

Lucky us~ Piggy and Mousy had free dinner during the WHF. Media from abroards were invited to the WHF, "escorted" by local travel agents. Well...certain American media personnels were feeling unwell so there were extra tickets and the their touyr guide invited us for FOC dinner ** YIppie** Each of their ticket per day, inclusive dinner and premium seat during night performance, cost MYR 200+++/pax. The dishes served were mainly blanched vege serve with sambal, steamed chix, stir fried beef, strif fry Bilin..some very local Sarawak dishes. Not exceptionally delicious but acceptable.
World Harvest Festival (formerly known as Gawai Tourism Night) is held from May 23 to 24 at the Sarawak Cultural Village this year. Among the highlights are the performances from invited international and local cultural troupes, the staging of a theme play on a legendary Iban warrior entitled “Apai Balang”, an ethnic beauty pageant “Miss Fair & Lovely WHF 2009″, a unique event where the finalists of “WHF 2009 Iron Man” compete in activities such as lifting rice in gunny sack, blowpipe shooting, etc.
Local Sarawakian Performance
Theme play on a legendary Iban warrior entitled “Apai Balang” this year is title Simpang Impang II and honestly we were very much impressed with the stage play.

Lim Hock Ann Seafood

Yummy~ yummy~ yummy~ Never missed a trip to the seafood restaurant at Kampung Buntal every time we head for Damai. Never judge a book by its cover, the run down countryside (kampung look) restaurant is a hot spot for the locals. The location of the restaurant is at the very far far end the road in Kampung Buntal, at the junction about 2 km before arriving Damai.
